How to get to Aulus Coliving

Aulus Coliving is located in the village of Aulus-les-Bains.

If you have a car, just follow the GPS (“Aulus Coliving”). You can aim for this parking, which is less than 50 meters from the coliving.

Now, if you’re coming by public transport, this guide was written for you. We know it can be quite daunting to get to a place in a country you don’t necessarily know or speak the language, so we have tried to include all the details and recommendations here to make it easy for you.

If you still have some questions or doubts after reading this, don’t hesitate to ask us directly!

Step 1: Get to Toulouse train station

Unless you’re already somewhere in the Pyrenees, the best overall is to reach Toulouse first.
Toulouse is very well connected in France and in Europe. You can get there by plane, train, bus, car sharing, donkey, etc.

Flying

You can get to TLS airport from a lot of different places.

Then, from the airport you will have to take the airport shuttle (every 20 minutes) to get to Toulouse Matabiau station (price around 9€). Note: if you are 2 people or more, taking an Uber can be cheaper and maybe faster, depending on the traffic.

Train

If you reach Toulouse by train directly, then you will very likely arrive at Matabiau station.

Bus

Sometimes, buses can be a better option (and cheaper). For example, if you’re coming from Barcelona, taking a bus could make sense. The bus terminal is just 5 minutes walk from the train station.

Step 2: Get to Boussens by train

From Toulouse Matabiau, get the train to Boussens. We recommend you to use the Trainline app, which works quite well (and better than the official French SNCF app). A normal ticket for this train is 14.30€, but sometimes you can get a promotion for 5€ or even 1€.

Train travel time: between 40 and 55 minutes.

When to book? Those trains have a fixed price and thus you don’t need to book too long in advance. Although, we would recommend booking at least a few days before, just in case the train gets full.

Which train to take? Well this depends directly on the bus that follows (see step 3).

Take the:

  • 06:31 train from Toulouse (arrives at 7:11 in Boussens) to get the 7:25 bus (Monday to Friday)

  • 07:40 train (arrives at 8:36) to get the 8:55 bus (weekends and bank holidays)

  • 11:41 train (arrives at 12:35) to get the 12:55 bus

(if the train schedule has changed, please let us know so we can modify this guide!)

Step 3: Get to Aulus by bus

There are 2 direct buses per day from Boussens to Aulus (line 452).

The bus costs 2€ per ride only. Note: they don’t accept credit cards, so make sure you have some cash with you (also having cash is strongly recommended in Aulus, as some of the local businesses don’t accept cards and there is no ATM in the village. Welcome to the countryside.).

Here are the 2 bus options:

  • One in the morning at either 7:25 (Monday to Friday) or 8:55 (Saturday, Sunday, and French bank holidays). This one goes straight to Aulus-les-Bains.

  • One at midday, at 12:55. This one also goes directly to Aulus-les-Bains, but they will probably make you transfer to another bus in the middle (in Saint-Girons), the driver will let you know. There is no wait for the transfer.

Once you get to “Aulus-les-Bains - Centre/Rond Point” (that’s the bus stop name, but anyway, there is only one bus stop here, so you can’t miss it), go past the roundabout, and 200 meters later, you’ll arrive at Aulus Coliving!

Recap

The goal is to catch one of the two buses from Boussens to Aulus-les-Bains. As you can see, the last bus is at 12:55 (midday) so if your flight/train to Toulouse arrives in the afternoon, you’ll probably have to spend one night in Toulouse and take the bus the next day. It can be a nice opportunity though, as Toulouse is a great city to visit, very walkable, amazing food, and a great sunset spot by the river.

The whole trip from Toulouse is not too long, about 3h with the train/bus combo (2h by car).
